Safari Planning Questions

What is the best time for wildlife viewing in Sri Lanka?
The dry seasons (January-April in the south/east, May-September in the north) offer the best wildlife viewing as animals congregate around water sources. However, different parks have optimal viewing at different times. Yala is best January-July, while Wilpattu peaks February-October. Whale watching is best November-April in Mirissa and March-September in Trincomalee.
Are your safaris suitable for photographers?
Absolutely. We offer photography-focused safaris with guides who understand lighting, positioning, and animal behavior for optimal shots. Vehicles are equipped with camera mounts, and we schedule drives during golden hours. Private vehicles ensure you have space for equipment and can stay longer at sightings.
What should we bring on safari?
Neutral-colored clothing (khaki, green, brown), binoculars, camera with zoom lens (300mm+ recommended), sunscreen, hat, and light jacket for early mornings. We provide water and snacks. For bird watchers, we recommend a field guide and notebook.
Can you accommodate families with children?
Yes, we design family-friendly safaris with age-appropriate activities. We can arrange shorter drives, educational activities at lodges, and visits to ethical wildlife rehabilitation centers. Minimum age requirements vary by park (typically 6+ for regular safaris).
How do you ensure ethical wildlife viewing?
We follow strict guidelines: maintain safe distances, limit vehicle numbers at sightings, avoid feeding or disturbing animals, use lodges that follow sustainable practices, and employ local guides who respect wildlife. We're certified by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority for ethical wildlife tourism.
